Who would benefit from this qualification?
The qualification is aimed at managers, owners and leaders across a range of health and social care provision for children, adults or older people. The two to three year course gives the opportunity to build both managerial and care skills, whilst fulfilling the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of children’s homes or adult residential and domiciliary services.
What does the qualification cover?
Learners are required to choose one of six pathways, all of which share five core units. Learners will also have to complete a certain number of optional units, depending on the pathway chosen:
• Children and young people’s residential management • Children and young people’s management • Children and young people’s advanced practice • Adult’s residential management • Adult’s management • Adult’s advanced practice
Shared Core Units:
• Use and develop systems that promote communication • Promote professional development • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion • Develop health and safety and risk management policies, procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings • Working in partnership in health and social care, and children and young people’s settings
Optional Units (selection Only):
• Lead person-centred practice • Support individuals at the end of life • Manage finance in a health and social care or children and young people’s setting • Explore models of disability • Understand the needs of children who are vulnerable and experiencing poverty and disadvantage • Identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance misusers
